Building a trust based reationship is paramount to growing and sustaining a viable and successful automotive maintenance and repair operation. Consumers continue to feel sceptical about the automotive service industry. The barriers of distrust are more easily overcome when you can provide your customer with information that helps remedy a problem that they may not be aware of, or don't know the repair can be done at "No Charge" to them.
The importance of recalls is self-evident, given that they are related to specific safety issues being created by defective components installed on so many vehicles. Recently we are hearing about “Exploding Air Bags” that actually act more like hand grenades, as they deliver shrapnel when detonated. This is only one problem that some of the 64 million vehicles recalled in 2014 had. Remember the GM ignition Switch problems?
Most in the Automotive service and Repair Indstry do not check for recall information, and are not currently required to do so. Many consumers are unknowingly paying for Safety Recall Repairs covered by the vehicle manufacturers. It should a required that Automotive Sales, Service, and Repair Businesses inform consumers about all safety recall information for their vehicles"Prior to Performing Any Repair".
